This is one of the best purchases I have ever made. The quality is good, but even better is the fact that it hides all of our Rock Band Gear in a very classy way. We use it as extra seating in our living room and everyone we show is amazed by the product. I would definitely recommend purchasing it!


ok, this product works as it was supposed but i get completely disappointed since it is black, i mean completely black also when the amazon announcement and even the box said it is dark brown.

i paid a lot freight cost since i am from panama so i cant think in sending back but if you have a brown decor in your room as myself this is not what you are looking for.

Ours was bought as a gift for us. It is nice looking however, ours is black, not dark brown. Also, with the first use the drum part bent. We've tried to contact the company with NO response. It is comfortable to sit on, does look nice. Husband has made a few modifications to make the drums a bit more stable.


It's a great storage container, but Houston we have a problem. Our new puppy used it as his bathroom and the pad is now soaking wet. Anyone know if the mat is washable?


After a week of looking at Rock Band 2 controllers and wires stretched across the den, we ordered the AK Rock box. It arrived in good condition, which was a pleasant surprise considering the box was a mangled. I was a bit disappointed to see that it is more black than dark brown as advertised, but after reading previous reviews, I was prepared for this. All I had to do was mount the four feet on bottom and snap the drums to the trick extender arm, and it was good to go. I had to find a place to hide the original drum legs, but now everything Rock Band easily stows in the Box.

I haven't had anyone over to play that hasn't been impressed by the AK Rock Box. It isn't quite a high-quality piece of furniture in my opinion, but it is highly functional which makes me give it a very solid four stars. I'd buy it again, no question.

The Good:
+Clean storage system for full Rock Band Outfit.
+Trick drum mount
+Definite "WOW!" factor when friends come over to play
+Good quality hardware: hinges, etc.
+Great seat for up-close, non-RB gaming
+Sturdy, quality weight.
+Very little assembly

The Not-so-Good:
-Drums aren't height adjustable, a bit low for some
-Lid wobbles when closed, requiring you to push it from base or pick up, which is not a one-man chore
-Padding on top is unevenly distributed
-"Dark Brown?" Pah! Black more like.
-Pretty packaging, but didn't seem thick enough.


This ottoman is a good storage idea to "hide away" your Rock Band gear, but the main problem I had was that it is not comfortable at all to play the drums in front of it. When the drums are on their original legs, your kick pedal is positioned below the drums. When the drums are mounted on this ottoman, it is actually in the way of the natural and more comfortable position of the pedal. I needed to sit further back in order to get the pedal to feel right, and then I felt too far away from the drums. It would be better if they made a version without the drum lift to use just for storage. It is not difficult at all to pull the legs off the drums to put them away and slip them back on when you're ready to play.


This is a well made ottoman and a very clever idea! Much to my dismay, however, the drum set I got with Guitar Hero Rock Band did not fit on the pull out drum stand housed in the ottoman - it was too big! So unless you have a very basic drum set, you may want to check to determine if it fits. However, with a few modifications I managed to make it work. I had to take out the drum stand bolted to the bottom of the ottoman. Then I had to cut out two panels (which was easy because they were only held together by fabric). Once that was done, I managed to fit two guitars, games, control units and the disassembled Rock Band drum set in the ottoman just fine, with a little creative placement. So when we want to play rock band with drums, all it takes is a few screws to put the drum set back together and you're good to go. This is a fairly large ottoman and the storage it provides (even with my homemade modifications) really cleans up the living room. Just don't panic if the drum stand in the ottoman does not fit your drums. It works just as well without it, by taking it out, as I mentioned. Good product! Our living room looks like a living room again.


Really cool idea! But for 300 dollars, it's called "under the bed." I'd actually consider buying if the price were reasonable.


if *only* i had really read the product description before i bought the rock box (i got totally lured in by the 50% off price along with free shipping!) and then later spent an hour trying to get it to work with the Guitar Hero drums. i am so annoyed .... i think that the box could probably be retrofitted to handle the GH drum kit (it's the cymbals that are the issue) + the width is too small to handle the set. however, i am not about to re-engineer the product & will just keep it to house the guitars, pedal, drumsticks, controllers, etc ... and leave the whole drum kit out (which was really the point of buying the item .. to HIDE the drum kit!). i couldn't imagine trying to return this because it is so unwieldy ... i'll just suck it up and take the loss and hopefully try to get at least a bit of positive use out of it.
Would have been quite lovely had it been able to handle the GH setup .. the concept is brilliant & really helps to clean up the room. Definitely well constructed, high(-ish) quality leather (doesn't *seem* like pleather!).
only other issue, as others may have mentioned, is that it does seem a little tricky to get the drum lever to release to lower them .. i'm not sure my 9 year old would have had the manpower to handle that.
