My autistic son LOVES this toy. As you can imagine buying toys for special needs children is difficult because they won't play with them "like they should". With this toy there is no "right" way so he is very happy and not frustrated. Plus the magnets snap together with a satisfying click that I think he really enjoys."


My 4-year old son plays with magformers all the time at preschool so I decided to purchase one for home. He can spend alot of time building shapes and objects with these. I would have purchased a bigger set but it gets quite expensive.


I bought 2 sets of these for my 5 yo son. Little did I know that my 2 YO daughter would love them too. Not to mention I enjoy playing with these. They spark creativity and the possibilities of what you can build are endless. My only advice would be to buy the biggest set you can afford. The more pieces the better. This is an AWESOME toy. We have had them for about 6 months now and my kids will be getting more for Christmas this year.



I bought this for my 4 yr. old G-son. It was an addition to a set of Mag-formers he already had. He loves it. We love watching how he gets better with it each time he plays with it. I would recommend this to anyone. He has used it since he was 3.


We leave our magformers out in the living room where it is enjoyed by visitors from ages 2 to 70. Originally we purchased one set, but soon decided to get another because our friends, our adult children, and our grandkids enjoy it so much. The pieces are sturdy and safe for young kids. People enjoy manipulating them alone or in groups. It is a versatile and enjoyable toy.


My children, (4.5 and 2.5) got these for Christmas, one set each. Shown here is the red and purple set which my daughter received, but they also come in blue & yellow which is what my son has and I believe another color combination. There are two shapes - 18 squares and 12 triagles in the 30 piece box. 30 pieces is enough to build decent sized shapes, but if you have a builder who enjoys elaborate structures, they may want more pieces.

They do indeed go together as described on the box. They never reject on the edge, if you flip it over the other way, it still connects. I did find that certain combinates of putting them face to face does reject and the shape has to be flipped over. The magnets are completely encapsulated in the plastic, not glued in the edges as was the problem with magnet toys which have been recalled - as these strong magnets can be deadly when swallowed. That is my largest concern with this toy, but I spent some time trying to pry apart the plastic to be sure it was secure and it flexed some but seemed pretty well put together. Given the CPSC's recalls on other toys using similar magnets, however, I will be keeping a very close eye on these.

As for the educational value, they are wonderful - my 4.5 year old daughter was immediately building all sorts of geometric shapes with it, and while my son isn't at that level, he still enjoyed stacking them and pulling them apart. This toy is a great alternative to the much more expensive magnatiles.


I bought this toy at a local children's museum and got online to see if I could get some more. They are great to teach children about shapes, magnets, building, and other principles. My husband and I actually have more fun with them than our kids do. My 2 year old even likes to play with them with help.


Magformers kept my 2.5 yr old amused for hours and that is difficult to do. She built and built with it and was so proud of all of her creations. It has a lot of potential as she grows. We want more of them....


I didn't see the Matt Lauer thing, but read everyone's reviews here about this toy...and they were right. Such a simple concept, but my 2 (almost 3) year old son loves it. In fact, I only ordered the 14 piece set for x-mas and find myself back here a week later to order him more!


This toy is simple to use yet tremendous fun! I bought it for my seven year old and my twelve-year-old loves it too! The kids really enjoy how you can assemble the pieces flat and then lift to form a design. The pieces (triangles and squares) make it easier for kids to conceive and build designs than the typical ball and stick magnet toys - and the creations are more stable. Seems to help build spatial relationship reasoning also - I was impressed how my kids would plan out how to build the items.
