I bought these crayons for my 26mth old after buying packs and packs of crayola traingle crayons that would only break quickly. These Melissa and Doug crayons are not only large(jumbo), but much more stonger. No more broken crayons!! The colors are much more viabrant too. The perfect toddler size and shape crayons help reinforce proper pencil holds and won't roll away. I wish I would have bought these from the start.


These crayons are perfect to hold, they don't roll all over the place, and they are very durable.
The ONLY thing I can see being better is a way to sharpen them. I had to use a knife to do that.

I first saw these crayons working for an autism company so i figured they would be good for my child who was born premature.
Now the battle is getting my 2 year old interested in actually coloring with them.


I originally purchased these for my 16-month-old twins as their first crayons, based on other customer reviews that the chunky shape was easier for little hands to hold. I agree with the reviewer who comments that they are not "soft," though, and my toddlers didn't have the strength to push down hard enough to really see good color lines. So, I put them away, and bought both Crayola Washable Markers 8-pk. and Crayola Washable Crayons 16-pk. just so my kids could understand coloring and feel rewarded by seeing the results of their doodling. Now that my kids are 19-months old, and understand what crayons do, I like the Melissa & Doug Crayons, particularly because they don't "bleed" all over things if the kids happen to put them in their mouths (the Crayola washables get really soft and "leaky" when they get wet).


My 17 month old son does his best to stick it to these crayons, but they don't break, they don't roll and they're easy for him to grasp. I bought these as Christmas gifts for 6 other children the same age as my son, with excellent results (ie - fun times!) Highly recommend!


Awesome crayon!! I have never written a review about anything, but these are too good!!! I have 4 boys, oldest is 6! We have been through tons of crayons and wasted a lot of money until we found these. They come in a great case which is nice and sturdy, and for some reason the kids actually like putting them away. They are impossible to break, and my boys are tough! They don't roll due to their shape so they stay on the table and hence no fights over who dropped which crayon and whose turn it is to pick it up.. It is amazing how one little improvement keeps peace in the house! I wish I had found these years ago!!!


I wanted a thick chalk that my 2 young grandchildren could use without breaking. The small size chalk have all broken into unuseable pieces. These nice large thick pieces are just great.


I love these crayons. I recommend them to anyone and everyone with toddlers. My daughter loves to color. But, she was always breaking her crayons. These do not break. They also don't roll all over the table and the case is perfect as well. They were delivered very fast too.


From the mother of a 2.5 year-old:

First, let me say that I didn't realize these came in a plastic case. This is so great, since my son tends to rip apart the typical paper/cardboard crayon boxes on the first day. The case has a clear lid w/ a hinge, and placeholders (little cut-ins that the pointed edge of the triangle can sit it) for each crayon which make it really easy for my son to constantly put them into and then take out of the box over and over.

As far as the quality of the crayons, these have not broken yet and appear to be very difficult to break (provided we can keep them away from the dog, of course). The crayons are thicker and longer than the Crayola triangular crayons, which we've come to learn break very easily. I think the number of crayons in the set (10) is perfect - it provides a good variety of colors to choose from.

I highly recommend these crayons. Try them, you'll be impressed! And your kid(s) will be too!


I bought these for my 2 1/2 year old daughter, and she instantly loved them. I like these crayons so much better than Crayola. They do not break, and color nicely. I recommend these crayons to anyone with a toddler. The perfect crayon.


My sister-in-law gave these to my son for Christmas, shortly before he turned 3. They are great crayons; they color well, they are easy to grip, they don't roll around, the case is easy to open, and because they are fairly fat, they don't break into several pieces like the slender Crayola crayons. In fact, these are the only crayons I will turn him loose with, as the others break into pieces which then get ground into the carpet.
